Ideally, Thanksgiving is a time where loved ones come together and really show gratitude, appreciation, love etc. for each other; at least that’s how I see it. In recent times I have realized that sometimes as the holidays approach folks are inundated with stress. Whether that is financially or personally, people aren’t able to be as excited about thanksgiving. Of course, there is the historical meaning behind, but traditionally it’s a time to be thankful. Each year, christmas seems to come faster and thanksgiving is brushed under the rug. It’s almost as though we celebrate Halloween and then BOOM Hello Christmas!
Unfortunately, I think this has contributed to the lack of thankfulness we have! We as people are incredibly spoiled in my opinion. In a country that is so privileged we sometimes live in such entitlement. I believe I have fallen victim to this mindset too! Thinking that I should obtain results faster, have exposure faster, or the feeling that I have earned my place (whatever that means) sometimes forgetting that the cards are dealt. Even in my personal life, I sometimes want what I want and I want it FAST! However, I believe that we as people (including myself) need to spend more time being thankful and grateful.
I can’t tell you what to do and what to be thankful for. I can encourage you to count your blessings. For every bad thing that’s happened to you, there has been good in your life. You are blessed. Regardless if you are where you want to be or not – your life could always be worse. I am without doubt that you have a place to stay, loved ones that show they care, clothing to keep you warm. I am certain that you have an occupation, and transportation. You have the ability to laugh, cry, rejoice, and so much more! I know that we all have a story, but we are so much than that!
